COKA advocates against skirt and blouse voting in Ashanti region.

The former Afigya Kwabre South Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), has spoken out against party members voting for an NPP presidential candidate and then voting for an independent or other parliamentary candidate.

Skirt and blouse voting is a term used in our political vocabulary to describe the practice of party members voting for the NPP presidential candidate before deciding to support an independent or another legislative candidate. This practice halted the advancement of this party and, consequently, of this nation.

Take a look at the struggles the NPP is facing to pass its policies and programs through Parliament.

COKA stated at the formal kickoff of the Offinso South NPP constituency campaign over the weekend in the Ashanti Region, “It is not good and such voting must not be encouraged.”

He said that since elections have repercussions, Ghanaians should identify and support the political party that puts the needs of the people first.

Elections have repercussions. Therefore, you should never vote for the National Democratic Party (NDC) or their candidate, John Mahama, who was unable to provide steady power for longer than four years, but rather for the party that will stabilize your energy supply, or electricity.

The NDC opposed the adoption of the Free Senior High School Policy and hence cannot protect it if elected, unlike the NPP, who introduced it.

Odeneho Kwaku Appiah believes that Ghana can only make development under the NPP rule.

“Any reasonable Ghanaian will attest that this nation has experienced significant development only during the NPP’s tenure, particularly in the area of social intervention initiatives such as free prenatal care, free education, and numerous other programs.”

In order to increase support for the Party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahmadu Bawumia, as well as the legislative candidates, he urged unity within the NPP’s Ashanti region ranks.

“NPP will win this year’s elections with unity.” With a large following, the NPP is the largest political party in Ghana. To increase the number of votes our presidential candidate and the parliamentary candidates receive in the area, let’s band together behind the giant elephant.
